Be grateful
Once upon a time ,
there was a little girl named Aaliyah who had really
high expectations of how she lived.
She always wanted to live in a big luxury
house with her parents on a street full of other children of her age.

She wanted to have a nice big car where it could take her anywhere she wanted.
She wanted to wear clothes every other rich girl would wear that was multi colored.
But that was only what she dreamed about.

Instead …. she lived in a tiny house with 1 room ,
Aaliyah shared rooms with her parents. They had to walk everywhere ,
so she could only go places her parents would go.

Everyday she had to wear brown shorts & a white top that was both made out of cloth.
She was sick of it. She hated the house , she didn’t care about being “grateful” ,
it was no use if she wasn’t grateful for some ugly tiny house.

So one day , while her parents were out hunting for food ,
Aaliyah took off with her pet dog Lukas.

She walked through a street and noticed a big house with children
running around everywhere. It looked exactly like the house she had dreamed about.

There was a big sign in front of the house that said “FOR SALE”.
She couldn't wait to tell her parents but then she noticed on the bottom of the sign it said that it was £2,500 pounds.
They can’t afford that! She frowned then walked away.

She got back home to see her dad cleaning the house ,
her mum cooking food.

Aaliyah felt heartbroken that she had said all those things about
the house knowing that her parents worked really hard to buy it.
So she made it up to them.

Every day she cleaned the house on her own , hunted & cooked dinner.
She is very happy to be in this tiny house. She is really grateful to have her parents.

Formal Language

26.07.19
This morning we were reminded about suffix.
  • Suffix is a group of letters or one letter added at the back of a word which changes the meaning of the word
  • (er , ing , en , ful , i , ish , &more)
We also were reminded about verb.
  • A verb is a doing word : something that is acted
  • (Running , Sitting , Praying , Stare , Jump , Move)

Copy these sentences into your book.
At the end of the sentence, write in brackets whether the sentence is an example of a metaphor or simile.

  1. As slippery as an eel (simile)
  2. Arnie was a man-mountain (metaphor)
  3. He was a lion in battle (metaphor)
  4. She is as pretty as a picture (simile)
  5. The striker was a goal machine.( metaphor )

Air pollution writing report
3 of 3 best learning I've done this Term
Pollution is the process of making land, water, air or other parts of the
environment dirty and not safe or suitable to use.
My focus is on air pollution.

There are 6 types of air pollution -
carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, ozone, particulate matter and lead.
Air pollution is caused by gases , dust , fumes , particles , or smoke.
4.6 million people die each year, mainly caused by air pollution.

Air pollution comes out when cars turn on -
the smoke comes out from the cars and enter the atmosphere.
People who live in places with high levels of air pollutants
have a 20% higher risk of death from lung cancer than people who live in less polluted areas.

Air pollution that causes death which also have costs.
Air pollution led to one in 10 deaths in 2013,
that cost the global economy $225 billion in lost labour income.

For us to become a healthy world &
stop air pollution we can use electric cars and have less smoking.

We can save the world !

Cooking with Aaliyah

Step 1 - 1 1/2 cups of soft raising flour
Step 2 - 1/2 cup of sugar

Inside a different bowl -
Step 1 - 1/2 cup of oil
Step 2 - 1/2 cup of milk - 1 egg
Step 3 - 2 tbsp of yogurt

MIX WELL!

Now you tip it both into one bowl then mix it very well until it is thick.
You now serve it into the muffin trays and put it in the oven.

Keep poking it with something until it is dry inside. You take it out and serve it onto a cooling tray.
You now put some Hershey chocolate syrup on top.
