Learning goal: I am learning that numbers can be shown in many different ways I can show in my presentation some of the different ways my number can be recorded. My favourite way is making up a
word problem.

What I have learnt:
I have learnt how to expand my numbers so when I put them back together it gets back to the main number. I have also learnt how to write a proper word problem.
The hardest thing for me to do was to write the word problem because I had to come up with ideas that will suit my number.
The easiest thing for me to do expand my numbers because all I needed to do was just take out the numbers and just add zeros.

Basic facts

Learning goal-

I am testing how quickly I can remember my Basic Facts.

I need to remember my Basic Facts because they are the knowledge I need to help me with strategies to solve Maths problems.

Monday/Last week-

Today for Prototec my result was 29/40 and last Mondays result was 25/40. I have got a higher result because I have been practising my sqrs, roots and factors and have got a higher result for that block and for the whole results. I am learning my fractions and percentages. I will practise that block everyday so I can get a higher result.

What animal is like me?

Facts about this animal:

• This type of animal loves to eat ripe fruits like bananas, seeds, vegetables, leaves, honey, and even flowers
• This animal lives in South and Central America and also Africa and Asia.
• This animal has different kinds of hair colour (fur). Their face has not a lot of fur in the front, it is smooth when you touch their face. They look very short but they are actually a little bit tall, they look short because their back is always down as if they have hunchbacks.

Why I chose this animal

I chose to be a monkey because we have so much in common. Monkeys are insane over bananas and fruit (ripe) and so am I.

Monkeys also are a little bit annoying to people just like how I am annoying to my friends when I talk and move too much.

Monkeys love eating food just like me because I get hungry all the time just like monkeys do.

Monkeys also like to snatch things off that they really want, I oftenly do that when I really want something as well.

Monkeys always steal things from people or other animals just like when I was younger I used to steal my cousins toys.

Monkeys and I both love shouting, monkeys love to scream out and I love to talk and shout.

I can show in my presentation some of the different ways my number can be recorded.

My favourite way is making up a word problem.

Over week 3 I have been doing "what is my number". I have learnt how to write a proper word problem and answer it using my strategy and also analysing it. I also have learnt if my number is even or odd, I always focus on the last number because that is the main number even if it is a very long number. For example: 1294712084, this number is even because I can tell that the last number which is 4 is an even number. The hardest thing for me to do was "more or less" because I didn't know how to round up this big number to the nearest 10 000 but I still tried.

My typing test

Learning goal-

I am practicing my typing so I can be quicker and more accurate.

This will help me finish my work faster.

Monday-

On Monday my result for typing was 68 WPM and today my result was 76 WPM. I have got a higher result because I have been practising at home and I have only been typing on netbooks for 3 years and got faster than before. I am still practising at home to get higher results.

My basic facts test

Monday-

On Monday my result for Prototec timed was 27/40 and today my result was 29/40. I am getting better at learning my basic facts because I have been practising my basic facts at home. The facts I mostly need to learn is my fractions and percentages. I will practise more to get better at those facts to get better and learn them all.

The power went out at your school today. Write a short recount about your experience.

Title: Lights out

Recount:

Getting to school was horrible, the rain just kept on spitting on me but it’s just water so I didn’t mind.

As I walk into my warm classroom the lights were off and everybody was cleaning their desks. “How come the lights are off?” I asked, “the power is off”.

I ran into the corridor and felt scared already because it was dark. I started staring at the end of the hallway, it felt like it was going to turn sideways just like in horror movies.

I quickly hang my bag and ran back into the room breathless.

I walk to my desk and start cleaning, I was thinking about the move called “lights out” because how the lights were out.

As I was cleaning the bell suddenly rang and nearly made me deaf. My heart was beating as fast as a car speeding on 90 KM.

I sat down and breathed slowly as I started to calm down.

Now I knew my day wasn’t going to be how I expected it to be.
